OUR VALUES

We build intimate connections with our clients to create a welcoming and safe space where counseling works well.

Partial List of the Types of Therapy We Offer

THERAPY

Client-Centered Talk Therapy

Our therapy approach is designed around you as a unique individual with your own potential for growth. We use a client-focused method that offers a supportive and non-judgmental space for discussing your feelings and thoughts. This personalized strategy aims to guide you toward becoming your best self, empowering you to find your own path to healing and an enriched life. It's our commitment to recognizing and nurturing your inherent value and ability for positive change.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy is a proven way to address traumatic experiences and is especially effective for issues like PTSD, anxiety, and depression. By using guided eye movements and a technique called bilateral stimulation, we help you reprocess difficult memories in a healthier way. The result is reduced emotional stress and a more balanced emotional state. You'll gain the ability to associate positive thoughts with challenging memories, enhancing your overall well-being.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-centered method that teaches you how to accept your thoughts without judgment and take actions in line with your personal values. This approach improves your mental adaptability and is effective for various issues such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and addiction. If you're dealing with ADHD or addiction, ACT helps you manage symptoms and stay focused on your goals. Utilizing this approach, our therapists aim to help you face life's obstacles and live in alignment with the things that matter to you most.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented method that concentrates on your current circumstances and your future goals, instead of past difficulties. Our therapists guide conversations to spotlight your strengths and available resources. By focusing more on solutions rather than problems, this approach not only helps you envision an improved future but also provides you with practical steps to make it a reality.

Couples Therapy

In our couples therapy sessions, you'll find a focus on nurturing love and understanding in your relationship. We help you boost vital aspects like communication, mutual respect, and trust. Through exploring your shared values and encouraging open dialogue, you'll experience a stronger emotional connection with your partner. Our tailored approach equips you with practical strategies, enhancing the quality and balance of your relationship. Ultimately, this creates an environment where both you and your partner can thrive together.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a well-regarded method for addressing a range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and addiction. In our individual DBT sessions, you'll learn skills in emotional regulation, managing relationships, tolerating distress, and practicing mindfulness. These aren't just theoretical concepts; they're practical tools designed to give you greater control over your emotions and improve the quality of your relationships.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a trusted approach that helps you identify and modify problematic thoughts and behaviors. Our tailored version of CBT doesn't just focus on swapping negative thoughts for positive ones. Instead, we help you understand the mechanics of your thinking, allowing you to identify harmful patterns. This insight equips you to make more informed choices for better mental well-being.

At Cura, we understand the challenge of choosing the right therapy. Our team of skilled therapists specializes in creating personalized treatment plans tailored to your unique needs. With expertise in a range of effective therapeutic approaches, we collaborate with you to find the most beneficial path to your well-being. Our commitment is to guide you towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Trauma refers to the emotional and psychological aftermath of highly distressing events. It disrupts an individual's sense of safety and well-being, often leading to long-lasting symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and hypervigilance. Treatment helps clients regain a sense of control and emotional balance through targeted therapies.

Mood Disorders are conditions where emotional states and energy levels become imbalanced, seriously impacting thoughts, behaviors, and daily activities. Whether it's the depths of depression or the highs and lows of bipolar disorder, the impact is often significant. Our holistic treatment approach, which can include collaboration with your psychiatrist, frequently helps clients regain stability and lead productive, well-balanced lives.

Conditions We Treat

TREATMENT

We prefer to use the term "condition" when talking about challenges like anxiety, depression, addiction, or ADHD. This language aligns with our belief that everyone has the natural ability to recover, heal, and excel, even when dealing with ongoing conditions. Sometimes the mind needs some help healing, just like the body. It doesn't mean there aren't natural mental healing mechanisms; we see our role as facilitators of this healing. Our therapists collaborate with clients to create tailored plans that help them manage these conditions by unlocking their inherent potential for well-being. We respect your inner strength and are dedicated to aiding your progress toward a balanced, fulfilling, and healthy life, acknowledging that each person's experience is unique.

FAQ

  • Can I Use My HSA or FSA for Therapy?
Absolutely. Just input your HSA or FSA card details during intake, and you're good to go.
  • Do you take insurance? What is an out of network provider?
We do not accept insurance directly; however, we are an out-of-network provider. What does that mean? Basically, we provide you with a detailed invoice, known as a superbill, which you can then submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement according to your plan's out-of-network benefits. You'll need to pay for your sessions upfront, but many clients find they are able to get a portion of these costs reimbursed by their insurance provider.
  • Is Therapy Really Worth the Price?
In our experience, yes! When you focus on well-being, other areas of your life are more likely to fall into place. We live in a society that often puts the cart before the horse, focusing on external factors in the pursuit of inner satisfaction. We believe that well-being and peace of mind are matters of inside-out transformation. Our approach is designed to help clients discover these qualities within themselves.
  • What About Confidentiality?
Your privacy is non-negotiable. We only break confidentiality in extreme circumstances, like immediate harm or legal mandates.
  • Is Online Therapy Also Confidential?
Yes. We use secure, HIPAA-compliant tech. Just make sure you're in a private space during sessions.
  • What Tech Do I Need for Online Sessions?
Laptop, desktop, or even a smartphone will do. You might need to download an app, but we'll guide you.
  • Is Online Therapy Effective?
Research says yes. The magic usually lies in the quality relationship between you and your therapist. We hire high-quality human beings to guarantee that the therapist you connect with is truly deserving of your time.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
We ask for 48 hours notice. Cancellations made last minute may result in a fee (not to exceed the cost of the missed session).
  • My Schedule is Unpredictable. What Do I Do?
Talk to your therapist. We're often able to tailor scheduling to your needs within policy bounds.
  • What is EMDR?
It's a specialized technique to treat trauma and distressing memories using bilateral stimulation. https://www.emdr.com/what-is-emdr/
  • Can EMDR be done online?
Yes, remote EMDR is a thing. You'll need specific gear, but it works just as well as in-person sessions.
  • How Many Sessions for EMDR?
For simpler issues, usually 12-16 sessions. Complex cases may require a longer timeframe.

TESTIMONIALS

Our son has received therapy and counseling from various professionals over the years, with varying levels of success. After connecting with Angela, he has experienced significant progress and wishes to continue working with her due to their strong rapport. Unlike before, he now looks forward to attending therapy sessions with Angela.

Working with Craig was incredibly helpful. Unlike many therapists, Craig gives every patient, and their unique situation, serious thought and consideration. He listens carefully and applies his many years of training and knowledge to provide valuable feedback and insight, as well as strategies to address different situations and issues.  He genuinely cares and it shows in his approach.  I cannot say enough about how he helped me, and my family.

Craig assisted me in identifying realistic goals for my recovery. He provided personalized tools to aid in my struggle with addiction. I now use these tools daily to lead a fulfilled, hopeful, happy, and sober life.

We will be ever grateful Craig came into our life. He has partnered with our family to help save our son’s life. He is kind, compassionate, empathetic, and comes from a place of love.
